The Da Vinci Code - Dan Brown

Finally I finished this book.
It's more than 6 months since I heard about this book from my colleague. Later couple of my friends read the book and told me that it is a book that you just can't put down. So I reserved the book at the Alpharetta Library. I got it 1 week after my GMAT exam. As I was preparing for the GMAT exam, I had not read any book (other than Harry Potter 6th year) since July 2005. So I was very thrilled to start with 'The Da Vinci Code'. I just spent that sunday(Sep 18) reading that book. I did not cook or do anything else on that day. It's TRUE.
YOU CANNOT PUT THE BOOK DOWN once you cross the 4th Chapter.

I have never visited Paris. This book brought Paris in front of my eyes. I have seen Paris photos taken by my friends, but this book showed me much more than those photos. Now I'm just going to wait for an oppurtunity to go to Paris and see the Louvre museum. Of course, I wouldn't miss the 'Da Vinci Code', 'Monalisa' and 'The Last Supper'.

Well....coming to the book....It's a super thriller. I cannot discuss this book with any stranger, especially in America, for the fear of hurting their Christian sentiments. Yes....this book is a blasphemy. I felt like reading a history book. No one would believe that it is a complete fiction. As a matter of fact, I did google for 'Da Vinci Code' and found many articles on this book and it's 'FICTION'ary ideas.
Apparently there was a show in ABC News channel too - exploring the book's claims(fictional and dubious) about Christianity's historical origin.

I am amazed at Dan Brown's fascinations. Until now, J.K.Rowling's Harry Potter series of novels topped "Ramya's top fascination book lists". DVC has overtaken that. When you read Harry Potter, you know that it is not real. But that is not the case with DVC. If you forget the fact that you are reading a fiction, you will surely believe everything in this book - Jesus' marriage to Mary Magdalene, Mary Magdalene in 'The Last Supper' painting, existense of 'Priory of Sion', The Holy Grail, ......the list is endless.

As I mentioned earlier, it was like reading a history book. I wish every history book in our schools could utilize this story-based learning. I still remember how I hated History in school. I didn't mind reading Indian history or the struggle for indepedence. But I really hated to memorize the dates, especially the French revolution and the world war dates.

This book reminds me of 'The Goal' by Eliyahu M.Goldratt - a management book in the form of a fascinating novel about people(managers) dealing with problems at work and at home. These books reveal how important it is to have a story based learning.

If you are interested in this book review, just google. You will find 1000s of reviews and other articles.

Happy Reading !!!
