The more I learn, the less I know...
Danke!
If you were trying to say 'Thanks' in German, you have to find better ways of saying that. 'Danke' actually means 'No, Thanks' in German!
If you must get into root-cause analysis, Bourne says this in "The Bourne Ultimatum" to someone as "Thanks!". Not sure about language.

@மர்ம வீரன்: Danke :-)
Cool. I got it right the first time then. Bourne rarely makes mistakes!

Only when someone offers you something and if you respond saying 'Danke', it is considered as 'No, thanks'.
Example:
Ramsi: Do you want some coffee?
Deepak: Danke (means "No, thanks").
In all other cases, Danke means 'Thanks'
Ramsi: I have mailed the document you asked for. Did you get it?
Deepak: Ja. Danke (means "yes, thanks")
